Just a few months ago, a device in this category (albeit with ‘only’ 1080 Full HD) measured 12 x 9 x 5 cm and cost more than twice as much. Now we can offer a top-of-the-range camera measuring 3.5 x 3.5 x 5 cm. With even greater performance and even greater ease of use. The possible applications are manifold. In the private sector, but also in professional reconnaissance.

Description

Whether you want to find out who is scratching your car; whether, as a department store detective, you want to keep an eye on key areas on the spot; whether you want to record who enters or leaves a premises; or whether you want to know who is desperately trying to photograph your company signs; there are already many situations in which professional detectives use this device. Possible uses that we hadn’t even considered in some cases.

The camcorder features a high-quality camera sensor with a resolution of 5 megapixels. This falls between 2K and 4K. It also includes a PIR sensor with a detection range of 7 metres and invisible infrared lights with a beam range of 12 metres. However, you only need the infrared mode in complete darkness, as in normal mode a little ambient light, such as from a street lamp, is sufficient. With a camera angle of 140 degrees, you won’t miss a thing and you can also make use of the 5x digital zoom. On the back of the camera there is a microSD slot (up to 128GB) and a SIM slot. Live videos are streamed to your smartphone via the 4G mobile network, and you can also view and download historical recordings using the free app for iOS/Android. If that’s not enough, you can subscribe to a (paid) cloud service where the videos are uploaded. In PIR mode, you naturally also receive a motion notification on your mobile phone. The H.265 compression format not only ensures the highest recording quality but also provides enough space on a 128GB card for 28 days of continuous recording. In PIR mode, the manufacturer promises a runtime of just under 60 days based on 10 triggers per day. This seems realistic to us, although so far we have only tested the continuous recording mode with 4G transmission, which lasts 10 hours on a single battery charge. Of course, you can also power the device using a car cigarette lighter, a power bank or mains power. When used autonomously, the app displays the camera’s current battery level, so you know when you should retrieve the camera or swap it for another one.

You can’t go wrong when using the camera. There’s just a power button and a reset button. All other settings are configured in the app, which is self-explanatory but also features a wizard to guide you through the various functions and settings.
