Description
With its small dimensions of 5.5 by 6.5 centimetres and a thickness of approximately one millimetre, the Ortungszwerg is lightweight and inconspicuous to attach. After cutting the protruding safety strip, you can peel off the film and stick the patch wherever you see fit, as long as there are no metal surfaces. Using the free app for iOS/Android and browser portal, you can start tracking for a period of over 2 months. The battery status is displayed in the app and once the battery is empty, you can throw the pad away or simply leave it in place.
What’s this incredible thing happening here?
The device does not locate via GPS, but via BLE. It therefore uses Bluetooth end devices and gateways for orientation. This infrastructure network is constantly growing. You should not (yet) expect complete real-time location tracking as with GPS, but with a slight delay of a few minutes, you will see the position of the sticker, which is so accurate that GPS sometimes cannot keep up. We have put the device through its paces and are already using it ourselves as professional detectives. Of course, you can view the movement history via browser and app and also set up multiple geofences, which will trigger an alarm via push notification on your smartphone when they are entered and/or exited. Don’t worry: the device does not emit any sound or light signals!
Where can you use these devices?
Anywhere, except on metallic surfaces. Your imagination is the only limit.
